Alvin Ailey Percussion Demonstration at Darien Library

Alvin Ailey believed that “dance is for everybody.” He dedicated his company to serve not only as performers, but as teachers and role models to tens of thousands of children each year. Led by Ailey musicians, participants learn about the basic rhythmic structure of indigenous music, the instruments and the cultures that create it. Ailey dance teaching artists demonstrate the relationship of the music and the dance through this interactive rhythm and movement presentation.
